Progress has been relatively slow on Sonic Drive-In’s second Owensboro location. After originally saying the drive-in was expected to open in early 2023, a spokesperson told Owensboro Times it’ll now be later this year.
“The word is that this store plans to open towards the end of the year,” the spokesperson said simply in an email.
The additional Sonic location will be at 2510 West Parrish Avenue next to Taco Bell. The lot has already been cleared but not much else visible progress has been made.
OT broke the news of the new location in February 2022. In part, a statement sent at that time by a member of the Sonic public relations team reads:
“The location will be in addition to the current Owensboro drive-in … We look forward to bringing even more of the one-of-a-kind Sonic Drive-In dining experience and all the craveable flavors and convenience our menu offers to the Owensboro community.”
There is also currently a Sonic Drive-In located at 3107 Frederica St.
