Kona Ice is expanding its fleet by two vehicles this summer to have even greater coverage of Owensboro and the four surrounding counties they serve.
Owner Jared Edmonds said they purchased the two trucks at the end of last summer, and the vehicles are just now going through the final touches of being properly outfitted.
The local Kona fleet now has five units with two large trucks, two smaller trucks, and a Mini cart that can be set up both indoors and outdoors.
“Having the extra units means everything because the brand of Kona is so much. It’s the atmosphere, it’s the music. We even got a mascot for this year too,” Edmonds said.
With their additional unites and the Kona the Penguin ready to go, Edmonds said he’s excited to get on the road this summer during Friday After 5, birthday parties, and other events.
Edmonds also noted that Madisonville has been added to their service areas to go along with Daviess, Hopkins, McLean, Ohio, and Hancock counties.
Edmonds said they have already begun their season with some different events, and they plan to serve the area through at least October.
And after giving back more than $47,000 to the community over the last two years, Edmonds also aims give back more this year, saying it’s one of the main missions of Kona Ice.
