Nation’s Medicines on KY 54 has been an integral part of the community for two decades. After 20 years of business and four moves, owners Carl and Kim Lewis have changed the business name to Bluegrass Apothecary.

As independent owners of the Nation’s franchise, Carl said they decided it was time for a change. He reiterated that the only thing changing was the name and that customers could expect the level of service and care they’ve always received.

“Only the name has changed,” Carl said. “Big shoutout to everyone who trusts us with their healthcare needs. It is our passion to help this community, and we look forward to many more years of taking care of everyone.”

In addition to a committed and caring staff and several loyal customers, Carl said he would be remiss if he didn’t attribute some of their success to the rapid growth of KY 54. When the couple opened their doors, the area was home to a Wetzel’s Grocery store, Independence Bank, and a few Thompson subdivisions.

Walmart landed on the highway in 2005, and the boom hasn’t stopped.

“The growth out here has been huge; we’re busy all the time,” he said.

Nation’s began inside a grocery store, moved to their current location, then to a former bank inside a convenience store for a remodel before returning to their existing space.

“We are grateful for our staff and the long hours they have worked over the years, especially the last 3 years,” Carl said. “Kim and I thank God for all his blessings on our business, and we look forward to caring for you and your family for years to come. Come see us at Bluegrass Apothecary.”
