The brainchild of Madison Carden, Elle’s Happy Tails offers scratch-made gourmet dog treats for the Owensboro community and beyond. Happy Tails is set to open on Aug. 3 and boasts several options, from doggy donuts and pup cakes to cookies and ultimate pup cups.
“Our four-legged customers will have several different options, all freshly made right from my home kitchen,” Carden said.
Carden drew the inspiration from her 3-year-old doodle Ellie Mae, who eagerly and quickly consumed the treats at her annual birthday celebrations.
“Every year since she was a puppy, I would throw here a birthday ‘pawty’ and make her homemade cakes and treats, and she would devour them,” Carden said. “She loved them so much that it inspired me to want to make more for other dogs to enjoy.”
Once a month, the pup bakery plans to offer mini photo sessions for dogs and their owner. In return, they ask for a donation to a local animal rescue shelter.
Carden presently works full-time at a dermatology office and practices photography in her free time. When she’s not working or baking the delicious dog treats, she’s spending time with family and friends.
“My overall goal for Elle’s Happy Tails is to eventually be able to open an actual storefront bakery for dogs,” she said. “I want dogs to be able to come inside with their owners and enjoy a tasty treat.”
The goal is to accept the first set of orders by Aug. 3. Follow their Facebook Page here for more information and the latest opening date.
