After operating out of Melissa Edmonds’ garage and a warehouse space shortly after, Budget Blinds Owensboro now has a physical location off KY 54 for their showroom and meeting spaces.
Edmonds said since starting in 2017, they have consistently seen growth and a welcoming atmosphere from the community. Budget Blinds moved to their new location at 3115 Commonwealth Court Suite A2 this summer, and they are excited to provide an in-person experience for the community.
The showroom, not yet open to the public, is set to fully open sometime just before Christmas. Edmonds said they want to provide the chance for people to come in and not have to worry about booking a consultation.
Edmonds said she is the only person that does in-home consultations, booking 40 hours a week with 15 to 20 appointments. With the showroom, people can come in and see what options are available without the pressure of booking that consultation.
“There are people who want to come in and look around and they’re not ready to take that step to have me into their house picking things out,” Edmonds said.
Budget Blinds had the showroom open temporarily during the Shop Owensboro event, and Edmonds said while they didn’t have many visitors she was thankful to have people in. She said the location has also garnered people calling wanting to know more about the opening.
“We have had just tons of calls from people [since some signage went up]. I never imagined that there would be so many people who pay attention to that,” Edmonds said.
Since opening in 2017, Edmonds said Budget Blinds has seen large support from the Home Builders Association and is getting many of their customers through that organization.
Edmonds said they are proud to be a local business serving the community, no matter how small the project. She said she received a call where someone asked that she just do one window, and Edmonds happily came to help.
“That’s the beauty of being local, I probably pass your house on my way home from work,” she said. “So it’s nothing to do just one window.”
