Owensboro native Kevin Carrico was recently named the local market president of South Central Bank. After spending the last 3.5 years commuting from Owensboro to Evansville for work, Carrico said he was excited for a job opportunity that brought him back to the city he knows and loves.
Carrico took over his new role near the end of 2020 with 32 years of banking experience. Carrico worked at PNC Bank in Owensboro for years before moving to Evansville.
“I was very humbled by the opportunity,” he said of returning to Owensboro. “Being the president of the Daviess County market was something I could not pass up. South Central has been here for 25 years. I want to help our team be successful.”
One of Carrico’s goals is to expand South Central’s market share in Daviess County. Though the bank previously had success in the area, Carrico said he believed there were plenty of opportunities to build on that.
“I think we can tell our story a little more,” he continued. “We’ve got to continue to be there for our customers. We can’t forget our existing customers. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to [reach the level of success] we’ve already gotten to in this community.”
Keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, Carrico said he still wanted to push his bank to improve and expand. Another one of his goals, he said, was to make banking more fun for his employees and his customers.
“Work is important, but I want to bring some fun to the job,” he said. “Banking can be boring. It can be very mundane. I want to do things a little differently. South Central has a very good reputation and I just want to build upon that.”
