Jeremy Stone has been named the next principal of West Louisville Elementary School. He will officially begin the role on July 1.
“Being chosen to lead West Louisville Elementary School is truly a dream come true,” Stone said. “I am honored and beyond excited to join this incredible community. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and inspiring students as we continue the tradition of academic excellence and create new opportunities for growth and success.”
Stone began his career with DCPS in 2004 as the music teacher at Whitesville Elementary School, where he served for 19 years. In addition to teaching, he was actively involved in student programs including musical performances, the Student Technology Leadership Program, and robotics. He also held various leadership responsibilities such as KSA coordinator and member of the PBIS and Safe Crisis Management teams.
Since 2023, Stone has served as the principal of Hardinsburg Elementary School in Breckinridge County. In that role, he has led instructional efforts, coordinated staffing and discipline, reviewed student data to inform teaching strategies, and fostered relationships with the surrounding community.
“I believe a strong commitment to providing engaging learning opportunities for all students is essential to their continuous growth,” Stone said. “By fostering a nurturing and comprehensive approach to education, we can ensure that every child reaches their full potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.”
DCPS assistant superintendent for human services Dr. Caleb York said Stone emerged from a competitive field of applicants during a thorough selection process that included community input.
“The community played a key role by sharing their vision for the next principal — emphasizing the need for a strong leader who is enthusiastic, positive, and an excellent communicator,” York said. “We are thrilled to introduce Mr. Stone, a leader who embodies all of these qualities. Throughout his career, Mr. Stone has been a tireless advocate for students. His passion for student achievement and success is truly inspiring.”
