Owensboro Community & Technical College’s Workforce Solutions division is accepting new students for its ITEC (Industrial Technology Enhanced Credentials) program, designed for dislocated workers with prior industrial experience or incumbent workers already employed in an industry or maintenance field.
Students complete coursework online at their own pace, then schedule hands-on lab work with a Master Instructor in the Workforce Solutions Industry Innovation Lab.
The program includes seven courses and labs: Fluid Power, Maintaining Industrial Equipment, Circuits I, Electrical Motor Controls, Industrial Robotics and Robotics Maintenance, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Industrial Maintenance Capstone. Students also have the opportunity to earn national certifications in FANUC Material Handling and AMTEC Industry 4.0.
While the program can be completed in two semesters, students may also opt to take one or two classes per term for greater flexibility.
Program Coordinator Sonya Southard said the ITEC program is structured to meet the needs of working adults and those re-entering the workforce.
Students are encouraged to apply for federal financial aid, the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, or other funding sources. Employers may also provide tuition reimbursement for eligible workers.
The program is supported by a team that includes Southard, Master Instructor Steve Southwood, and Director of Industry Training John Drane.
Two upcoming information sessions are scheduled at the OCTC Downtown Campus: April 22 at 4:30 p.m. and July 17 at 5:30 p.m. To RSVP or request more information, contact Southard at 270-686-4485 or [email protected].
