Kentucky Wesleyan College is enhancing its communication arts program with a new focus on film and media production, thanks to a partnership with Kentucky Sound Stage and Goldenrod Film and Television.
The collaboration will expand course offerings at Wesleyan to include cinematography, sound design, acting, animation, and more. Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working alongside industry professionals on real-world media productions.
“Partnerships with organizations like Kentucky Sound Stage are invaluable, giving our students amazing learning opportunities while working alongside professionals in the industry,” said Dr. Andrew Bolin, coordinator of the Communication Arts Program. “We are excited for what this provides for our students while at Kentucky Wesleyan but even more excited about the possibilities it presents after graduating with a degree from KWC.”
Kristi Kilday of Kentucky Sound Stage and Goldenrod Film and Television said the partnership reflects the organization’s mission to support the next generation of filmmakers.
“This partnership goes beyond the classroom, equipping students with the hands-on skills, real-world experience, and industry connections essential for success in an ever-evolving film and television landscape,” she said.
Kentucky native Jeremy Winton, co-founder of both Kentucky Sound Stage and Goldenrod Film and Television, added that the state’s film incentive program has made Kentucky a prime destination for media production.
“By training Kentucky students in film and media production, we’re not just preparing them for careers — we’re ensuring they have a direct path into a thriving industry with real job prospects,” Winton said.
Students are already lining up internships through the partnership beginning this summer. New classes could launch as early as fall 2026, with additional offerings expected in fall 2027.
“I can’t overstate our excitement about this partnership,” said Dr. Stephen Germic, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Wesleyan. “Kristi and Jeremy, besides being simply great people, are bringing top-tier experience and professionalism to Owensboro and Kentucky Wesleyan College.”
