A reimagined production of “The Wizard of Oz” is set to take the stage — on ice — at the Owensboro Sportscenter on April 19, bringing a fresh take on the classic story with choreography, immersive visuals, and state-of-the-art special effects.
Presented by Shoe Sensation and produced by Ice Creative Entertainment, “Wizard of Oz on Ice” will feature skaters portraying Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion as they glide across the ice for the performance. A meet-and-greet with cast members begins at 4:30 p.m., with the show starting at 6.
“This is unlike any production of The Wizard of Oz you’ve ever seen,” said Brielle Francis, marketing director for Ice Creative Entertainment. “Audiences will be transported into the Land of Oz through breathtaking costumes, a custom soundtrack, and interactive elements that truly bring this timeless tale to life.”
She added, “The Owensboro Sportscenter will be completely transformed for this event, ensuring an unforgettable experience that blends theatre with the thrill of live ice skating.”
All proceeds from the event will go toward providing shoes to children in need throughout Daviess County, thanks to partnerships with Shoe Sensation and Rally Point Events.
