Swank Style & Boutique continues to thrive as a full-service salon and boutique. Owner Angie Morrison, who purchased the business in December 2020, has worked to expand its offerings while maintaining the salon’s strong reputation.
“When we bought Swank, it was primarily a salon with some retail, including hair products, accessories, and a few purses,” Morrison said. “We decided to expand the boutique side to provide clothing, jewelry, and even vintage Louis Vuitton purses.”
While Owensboro is home to several boutiques, Morrison said she saw an opportunity to serve an older demographic.
“Many boutiques cater to younger shoppers, but we wanted to offer styles for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond,” she said. “Because of our salon’s diverse clientele, we wanted to bring in fashion that appeals to a more mature audience.”
Swank carries limited quantities of each item to ensure exclusivity.
“If you see something you love, you should grab it because it might not be here the next time you stop in,” Morrison said.
The boutique also offers a unique luxury shopping option.
“I don’t believe there’s anywhere else in Owensboro where you can buy vintage Louis Vuitton handbags in person,” she said. “If someone is looking for a specific style, we can even source it for them within their budget.”
Beyond retail, Swank remains a bustling salon with 16 stylist stations, two nail technicians, and an esthetician offering facials, lash services, and skincare products.
“We truly are a full-service salon,” Morrison said. “We do haircuts and color for women, men, and children, and we also offer styling for proms and weddings.”
Morrison credits Swank’s longevity to its experienced stylists and loyal customers.
“The salon has been around for nearly 20 years, and many of our stylists have been here just as long,” she said. “Our clients become like family, and I think that strong relationship has helped us continue to grow.”
Swank Style & Boutique is located at 1210 East Byers Avenue in Owensboro and offers both walk-in services and appointments.
