St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter is gearing up once again for their annual Tables of Hope fundraiser. In addition to sponsors being able to decorate their tables with unique themes, the fundraiser will include a silent auction, client testimonies, and a keynote address from Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman.
The shelter is partnering with German American Bank for the event, which will take place at 6 p.m. on March 1 at Immaculate Catholic Church Parish Hall.
St. Benedict’s is the largest shelter and social support service provider in western Kentucky. Approximately 90% of its operating costs come from fundraisers, donations, and campaigns. The shelter serves approximately 77,000 meals and provides housing for about 600 individuals experiencing homelessness each year.
The event will feature table sponsors decorating their tables with unique themes. Director of Advancement Susan Law said participants are encouraged to be as creative as they like.
“We are open to your creative ideas, whether it be simple or elaborate,” Law said. “We’ve seen some tables decorated with sophistication and elegance of fancy tablecloth, dinnerware and silverware, napkins and floral decorations, while others have gone with a creative theme such as USA, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Armed Services, and more.”
Attendees can also match their attire to their table’s theme. Those who prefer not to participate in the decorating competition can still enjoy the event and a meal catered by Maria Kelley of Nona’s Market.
“This event is so meaningful to our clients, as it allows them the opportunity to serve the meal and show their appreciation for the community support they’ve received throughout the year,” Law said.
Individual tickets are $40, with table and corporate sponsorships available. More information can be found at stbenedictsowensboro.org/tables-of-hope.
