Dr. Dan Hatef, a plastic surgeon and owner of Hatef Aesthetics in Nashville, has expanded his reach by purchasing Edds Cosmetic Surgery in Owensboro. The acquisition marks his second practice location, and there are plans to open a third later this year.

Edds Cosmetic Surgery was founded by Dr. Jerry Edds, who established the practice in the 1980s after completing an otolaryngology residency at the University of South Carolina. Hatef said Edds was known for his stellar reputation and commitment to patient care and built a successful practice over nearly 40 years before selling the business.

A friend introduced Hatef to the opportunity, describing Edds as a “very nice man with a great practice and reputation.” Despite his busy schedule in Nashville, Hatef was intrigued.

“The way she told the story, I had to know more,” Hatef said. “I came up to Owensboro, and my son and I fell in love with it. The people, the charm of the town, and the staff here really made an impression.”

Hatef now spends three days a month in Owensboro, performing outpatient procedures at the clinic while referring more complex surgeries to his Nashville practice. The local staff remains in place, and Hatef has introduced a robust Med Spa model, similar to his Nashville practice, to expand the range of services offered.

“Our Med Spa focuses on non-invasive treatments like Botox, fillers, and skincare,” Hatef said. “These are great options for facial rejuvenation when patients aren’t ready for surgery. The most important aspect for me is ensuring patients have healthy, glowing skin to match their aesthetic goals.”

Hatef credits his team for the smooth transition, including Amber, who handles injectables, and Brennan, who provides facials, laser treatments, and skincare. Both work four days a week at the Owensboro location.

In addition to cosmetic treatments, Hatef also performs reconstructive surgeries.

“Some procedures, like body contouring after massive weight loss, address medical issues like hygiene and comfort while also achieving aesthetic results,” he said. “We also handle skin cancer reconstruction, nasal fractures, and more.”

Originally from Washington, D.C., Hatef attended the University of Maryland for medical school and completed residencies at UT Southwestern in Dallas and Baylor in Houston. He has been practicing in Nashville for 10 years.

With the Owensboro practice up and running, Hatef is optimistic about the future.

“Dr. Edds’ reputation and the charm of Owensboro were major inspirations for me to expand here,” Hatef said. “I’m excited to see how we can grow and serve the community.”
