For the third year, women from across the region will gather in Owensboro for the Joy Comes in the Morning conference, an event that was created to turn personal trials into stories of healing and hope. Event organizer Laura Murphy is also excited to include support for local nonprofits My Sister’s Keeper Women’s Shelter and Glory Baby Ministries by accepting donations.

This year’s conference is scheduled for February 28-March 1. Donations of hygiene products will be accepted for My Sister’s Keeper on Friday, while monetary donations for Glory Baby Ministries — a nonprofit that provides care packages for families following the loss of a baby — will be accepted on Saturday.

This year’s theme, “Created to Connect,” highlights the power of women coming together to share their stories and support one another. More than 20 local women will lead breakout sessions or serve as keynote speakers, including Faith Harralson and Lauren Early on Friday night.

“So many women have a story to tell. The focus this year is that we are better together and we can accomplish so much more on our healing journey with a community of women supporting us,” Murphy said.

Attendees can explore a variety of breakout sessions, such as The Many Paths to Motherhood, Inner Healing, Forgiveness, Stretch and Restore, Positive Affirmations, and Raising Littles. New this year is a session led by Mayme Stracener and Lily Murphy, offering insight from a younger generation.

The Sister Shop vendor area will include several local authors, gluten-free treats by Jade Hagan and Tierney Phillips, Glory of Eden jewelry, products from Bourbon Bath Company, and fresh produce and meat from Harralson Farms, among others.

Additionally, Jackie Sue Smith of Jackie Blue Handmade will design an exclusive bracelet for the event, featuring a charm that connects participants with another woman in the room. Smith will also lead a hands-on breakout session for those who want to create their own bracelet as a meaningful keepsake.

Joy Comes in the Morning will be held at 600 Salem Drive in Owensboro. Doors open Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are available here at a range of prices, and financial assistance is available. For more information, visit the event page here
