Donatos Pizza has clinched the top spot in the inaugural OT Wings Week voting competition. The event, sponsored by Barrel Heads and Take 10 Market, celebrated local eateries’ finest wings, culminating in a community vote held from Wednesday through Friday.
Ole South Barbeque secured second place, while PeezO’s Pizza rounded out the top three.
The Donatos team expressed their excitement about the victory.
“We’re absolutely thrilled. Owensboro has so many incredible wing places, so the competition was tough,” said Marketing Director Leanna Byrne. “To be voted best wings by our community is an honor. We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to vote for us; it means a lot to us.”
She added, “Our wings are oven-baked to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, so they’re never greasy. We couldn’t be more grateful to be voted Owensboro’s best wings.”
Owensboro Times Assistant Editor and wing enthusiast John Kirkpatrick led the wing tour, engaging local football players across Owensboro to gather their insights on the wings and the upcoming big NFL game Sunday night.
“I had so much fun discussing the Big Game with the athletes and talking about their upcoming seasons,” Kirkpatrick said. “Meeting all the restaurant owners and managers and sampling some of the finest wings around was a real treat. People often ask me what my favorite was, but I have to tell them they can’t go wrong with any of them.”
