Beverly’s Hearty Slice is expanding its emergency assistance efforts this week, offering increased utility vouchers and additional resources to those in need. The resources and vouchers will be available at Kendall-Perkins Park and Colony Estates, while pizza and water distribution will continue at all four BHS locations.

The organization has raised the value of its Owensboro Municipal Utilities (OMU) vouchers from $30 to $40 in response to a surge of emergency requests, BHS Founder and Executive Director Travis Owsley said. A total of 75 OMU $40 vouchers and 25 Kenergy $40 vouchers will be distributed during the event.

“We’ve seen an overwhelming number of people reaching out for help, and we knew we had to do more,” Owsley said. “Our goal is to provide immediate relief while connecting folks with resources that can support them long-term.”

Beverly’s Hearty Slice is partnering with several organizations to offer additional support:

• The Center will introduce its new mobile unit, offering on-site resources.

• Green River District Health Department will distribute Narcan, a medication designed to reverse opioid overdoses.

• Habitat for Humanity will be present to provide housing-related resources and assistance.

Friday’s event is sponsored by OMU and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Owsley emphasized the importance of community collaboration in addressing local needs.

“When organizations come together, we can really make a difference in people’s lives,” Owsley said. “We’re grateful to our sponsors and partners for helping us reach even more families.”
