Gold City

Gold City, a Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame member and Dove Award-winning southern gospel quartet, is performing a free concert on Sunday at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.

The performance will begin at 6 p.m. The church is located at 519 West Byers Avenue.

After forming in 1980, the Alabama-based group was one of the most successful quartets over the next two decades.

Gold City has released 10 No. 1 songs and multiple radio hits and has earned numerous industry accolades. Gold City was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2017.

“Historically, they have introduced some of the most important songs to all of gospel music, including ‘I’m Not Giving Up,’ ‘It’s Still The Cross,’ ‘When I Get Carried Away,’ and their signature song, ‘Midnight Cry,’” their website says.

At the helm of Gold City is Danny Riley, who aims to carry on the legacy established by his father, Hall of Fame bass vocalist Tim Riley. Joining Danny in the present-day group lineup are three seasoned veterans Josh Feemster, Chris Jenkins, and Jeff Chapman. The four vocalists are joined by Terry Wooten on keyboard.
