While military aircraft plan to take to the sky this weekend in Owensboro, several vintage vehicles and auto enthusiasts will flock to Whitesville City Park for the 6th Annual Cruise-In Car Show.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Open to all vintage cars, trucks, and jeeps, organizers expect the event to draw hundreds of visitors and participants. There is a $20 entry fee for those who wish to showcase their vehicles, and trophies will be awarded in various categories.

Whitesville Mayor Patsy Mayfield expressed excitement about the event’s return and its importance to the local community.

“It’s just a big event that brings our community together,” Mayfield said. “Everybody loves a good car show, and it’s a nice day out for everyone.”

The event will feature $100 door prizes every hour, along with other giveaways. Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will be on site dishing out food, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Whitesville Lions Club will also plan to sell lemonade push-ups and ice cream to support their organization.

Organizer Frankie Fulkerson hopes the weather will cooperate to make it a great day for all.

“The community always enjoys coming out to see the cars and spend time together. It’s a great way to bring people together, and I’m hopeful the rain will hold off so we can have another fantastic turnout,” Fulkerson said.

In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
