The FLOTSAM! River Circus is making a stop at English Park this Friday. The free show features performers with a wide range of talents — from trapeze to puppetry to balance art — plus a live band. The show is kid-friendly but meant for all ages.
The group is a nonprofit organization of musicians, circus artists, and puppeteers who travel along the Ohio River on a handmade raft, performing free concerts in each city they pass on their journey downstream.
The circus set-up begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. They will also perform in Tell City on Thursday and Evansville on Saturday.
While the show is free, they accept donations to keep the project and the boat afloat throughout the season. Those can be made in-person or on their GoFundMe page.
For people considering coming by boat, organizers noted the show is made to be viewed from the shore — and they’d prefer if other boats aren’t behind them during the performance.
The circus plans to travel nearly a thousand miles along the Ohio River this season, performing on 38 dates. They launched their 29-stop tour from Pittsburgh.
