Hill View Farms and Cecil Farms, as well as chef Matt Weafer, are teaming up once again for their 10th Annual Farm-to-Table Dinner Date Night. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. on September 26 at White Chateau at Cecil Farms, offering guests an evening of local food, music, and community.
What started a decade ago as a way to bring the community closer to local farms has evolved into one of Owensboro’s most unique events. Suzanne Cecil White, co-owner of Cecil Farms, reflected on the event’s beginnings.
“Jim Gilles and I partnered up 10 years ago with the idea of connecting farms with the community,” White said. “We wanted to give people a chance to sit down on the farm, enjoy a meal made from the food grown right there, and have conversations with each other and with us. It’s been an amazing journey, and people really enjoy it.”
The theme is “Banjos, Barbecue, Blue Bridge, and Cecil Farms,” which celebrates the essence of Owensboro. The evening will feature live bluegrass music, a meal prepared by Weafer, and ingredients harvested from both Hill View Farms and Cecil Farms.
“We’re serving multiple courses, including salad, appetizers, and desserts,” White said. “Everything is prepared using vegetables and fruits we’ll harvest next week, along with meat from Hill View Farms. And, of course, there’ll be beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.”
The event has become a popular date night option, attracting guests from across the community. According to White, the event’s success lies in its uniqueness.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind experience,” White said. “You can’t just decide to do something like this any Saturday night. We put a lot of effort into making it special, and I think that’s why people keep coming back.”
Tickets for the event are $75 per person and include all food and beverages. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets online through White Chateau’s website here. Limited seating is available, and guests are encouraged to act quickly to secure their spot at this year’s dinner.
