Frame and Flash Studios is one of the first of its kind in Owensboro. It provides photographers, videographers, and content creators a place to rent professional studio space.
The studio, owned by fiances Mary Lewe and Nick Gray, aims to fill a gap in the local creative community by providing access to a fully equipped indoor shooting environment.
“We’re a rental studio primarily for photographers and videographers, but we’re also open to content creators and amateurs interested in trying out a studio space,” Lewe said. “In bigger cities, this is more common, but it’s something that hasn’t really been done in Owensboro before.”
Frame and Flash offers a wide array of equipment and props, including backdrops, set pieces, lighting gear, and cameras and lenses for those who don’t own professional equipment.
“We want to be accessible to everyone, whether they’re just starting out or are seasoned professionals needing a place to shoot,” Gray added.
The studio also plans to offer consultation services for newcomers who might need guidance.
“We want people to feel comfortable and able to use the equipment to its fullest potential,” Lewe said. “Eventually, we hope to offer classes, group meetups, and more formal consultations.”
Frame and Flash Studios has already attracted a diverse clientele, including small businesses working on their branding efforts and local musicians and artists. The studio’s versatility allows it to cater to various creative needs, from product photography to full-scale video production.
Gray, a native of Owensboro with a decade of experience in media, and Lewe, who recently returned to the area after working as a mental health counselor in Chicago, came together with the idea for Frame and Flash about a year ago.
“I’ve always wished there was a place like this where I could set up and shoot without having to use my apartment,” Gray said. “We saw a need and decided to create a solution.”
Lewe, who has a background in film photography, brought her passion for the medium to the studio. Frame and Flash even offers a Polaroid photo booth, and all of their backdrops and equipment can be rented and used off-site.
Gray said the Studio is poised to become a hub for the local creative community, providing the space and resources for artists of all kinds to bring their visions to life.
