The popular 2nd Street Fam Jam event, which has taken place on Friday evenings in downtown Owensboro this summer, will continue through October 18. Derek Stone, manager of Mellow Mushroom Pizza, said their original plan was to end the event in conjunction with Friday After 5, but after exponential success and the City’s support, they’ve decided to extend the dates.

Stone said Fam Jam, which features live music, food, and family-friendly activities, has become a favorite for local families, especially the chalk art in the streets with Will Evans.

“It’s been a good family scene,” Stone added. “We have live music every Friday from 6:30-9:30 p.m., picnic tables, food, beverages, and activities like cornhole for everyone to enjoy.”

The downtown area, including Mellow Mushroom, has benefited from the event.

“We’ve all really enjoyed working together,” Stone said. “It’s set up a nice, calm environment where people can relax and enjoy music away from the bigger crowds.”

Upcoming performances include Taylor and Andrew Burton on August 16 and Andy Brasher on August 23. Additional acts will be scheduled as the event continues through the fall.

Local businesses such as Mellow Mushroom, Famous Bistro, The Pub on Second, Don Mario’s, and Brasher’s Little Nashville are all involved in making Fam Jam a success.
