Beth Steele has been named Owensboro Health’s Chief Operating Officer, a newly created position that will focus on systemwide operations. Steele will retain her current roles as Chief Operating Officer for Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and Chief Nursing Officer for the health system.
As system COO, Steele will work to build standardized workflows and processes across the health system.
Her areas of responsibility will include clinical operations, support services, and nursing services.
Her role will collaborate closely with the system CFO and CMO related to finance, quality, and patient
safety.
“Owensboro Health is experiencing tremendous momentum as we grow our services, achieve new benchmarks in quality, expand our team, and open new locations,” said Mark Marsh, president and CEO of Owensboro Health. “With Beth’s proven leadership capabilities, we can make sure that all of the components in our system work well together. Our goal is consistently great care at every Owensboro Health location.”
Steele joined Owensboro Health on January 10, 2022. Since arriving in Owensboro, she has helped form Nursing Shared Governance, implemented multiple workforce innovations, and sponsored process improvement processes like Gemba boards. Her teams have also led major projects to reduce patient falls and hospital-acquired infections while achieving OHRH’s best-ever Net Promoter Score in 2024. She previously served in leadership roles with OhioHealth and Premier Health.
“I am honored to be a part of the Owensboro Health team and witness our amazing accomplishments over the past few years; we have raised the bar for quality and patient experience to ensure we are meeting our mission,” Steele said. “But I believe we are just getting started on an exciting journey that ultimately positively impacts the communities we serve. Our health system is special in so many ways, and we have endless potential.”
