Owensboro native Adams Hicks is the new Executive Officer of the Green River Building Industry Association. He replaces Richard Stallings, who is retiring at the end of March.
Stallings served the last 20 years as the executive director of the organization, which was formerly called the Homebuilders Association of Owensboro.
The leadership shift comes as the association rebrands its name and one of its staple events, the Owensboro Home Expo.
“I am proud to be a part of the Green River community and honored to be selected for this position,” Hicks said. “It is truly a dream come true for my family and me.”
Hicks is working with Stallings through the end of the month to ensure a seamless transition.
“Richard will be greatly missed. He has been a staple of the organization and our community for over 20 years,” he said. “We will be working tirelessly over the next month to prepare not only me but also our organization for success.”
Hicks and his wife, Mandie, have four children. He spent the last 21 years as the manager at Texas Roadhouse on Frederica Street. In addition to growing the association, he looks forward to seeing the community prosper.
“With change comes great opportunity, and I look forward to the changes we will all experience in the future,” he said. “Not only do we want to survive as a building industry association, but to thrive and make our communities better off because we are here.”
Stallings added that he’s looking forward to the next phase in his life, which will not include employment.
“There are a lot of small details and big details in a position like this, and Adam has found his groove and caught on to the processes very quickly,” Stallings said. “We’re fortunate to have him accept the position for as long as he wants to dedicate to it.”
Stallings is looking forward to retirement and considers it an honor to have served the organization as long as he did.
“It’s been an honor for me to be the executive officer for the last 20 years,” he said. “I realize that my time had run its course, and it was time for the next person to take over leadership on the staff and operational side of the organization.”
