Owensboro natives Kristen and Steven Crowe launched Crowe’s Nest Food Truck on Monday during the opening night of the Dust Bowl. Crowe’s Nest specializes in hand-breaded chicken coated in signature breading with fresh ingredients.

Kristen said the business venture was a long time coming for her and her husband. She added that the Owensboro Dust Bowl created the perfect setting for a soft opening.

“It’s been hectic but exciting,” Kristen said. “We’re glad we got to start it this week. We’ve already had a lot of support. We haven’t stopped since we opened.”

Steven has always had a passion and talent for cooking, often testing recipes on friends and family. Kristen said the food truck allowed him to chase his dreams while the two of them hone in on their entrepreneurial ambitions.

“We were just searching for something that would allow us to do our own thing instead of working for someone else,” she said.

The menu comprises several hand-breaded chicken options, all coated with a secret seasoned blend Steven has spent years perfecting. Understanding that fried chicken isn’t for everyone, Crowe’s Nest offers nearly every menu option with grilled chicken.

Menu items include spicy chicken nachos, chicken wraps, chicken sandwiches, chicken bites, and fried pickles. They serve each item with seasoned fries and a choice of buffalo, hot honey, or honey mustard sauce.

Kristen said they plan to take the truck to several events in the tristate, such as Friday After 5. They also want to station the Crowe’s Nest outside of businesses during lunch.

To catch the Crowe’s Nest in action, visit them at 905 West Fifth Street this week. For more information, find them on Facebook here.
