Rocky Horror Picture Show is returning to the RiverPark Center for the third year, and Director Grae Greer said she is looking forward to presenting the cult classic for fans.
In the past, Greer has either acted or produced the show — but this time she said she is opting to do both. With her experience on both sides of the production, she thinks this year will be special for all involved.
“We’re listening to the audience feedback because this will be our third time doing it. People had comments and suggestions, and we really took those to heart and listened to what the fanbase wants,” Greer said.
This year the cast has grown in size from 14 to 38, and there’s a variety of theatre experiences she said. There are members who have been performing for years, while this is the first stage production for others.
Without spoiling who, Greer said the cast may have some actors from the community who may surprise viewers.
“I’m really excited to see how that goes. There are a lot of people from the community that I think people will be very surprised to see on stage. So I’m just I’m ecstatic,” Greer said.
Greer said being able to host the is a result of Rich Jorn taking over as RPC Executive Director. After being a patron for all of her life, Greer said she recalled past directors declining to put Rocky Horror Picture Show on.
When Jorn came on staff, Greer said Rocky Horror Picture Show was something that was clearly communicated that he wanted to do.
Under Greer’s direction, she said they plan to keep it as accurate to the original as possible. From the costume to the choreography, she said everything will try to be the best experience for all.
The show is a one-night performance on October 29. The show starts at 10 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here.
