Have a little one that loves trucks, construction vehicles, or equipment? Daviess County Parks and Recreation is hosting a new free event called Touch a Truck to expose children to construction equipment.
At 11 a.m., trucks and other vehicles will fill Panther Creek Park on Saturday, April 20, so children of all ages can learn more about their functions and touch a vehicle.
Director of Parks and Recreation Jordan Rowe said the new event will have something for everyone to enjoy. The first hour is set to be a sensory hour where everyone can touch the trucks and learn what they are used for.
Once that’s finished, Rowe said the event will have lights and sirens from 12 – 2 p.m. He noted that 2 dozen organizations and agencies had already signed up to be there on Saturday, including the County’s road, landfill, and utility departments.
A recent addition to the event is Blackhawk helicopters after the County approved the request from the Kentucky National Guard.
They also have 5 food vendors booked for the day and a petting zoo for those who would instead pet the animal after touching the truck.
