James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is hosting its annual Luminary Lights of Remembrance event this Saturday in honor of the more than 300 individuals they served throughout the year.

Funeral Director Bryan Schrock said that it is often holidays such Christmas when grieving a lost loved one can be the hardest, but over the years of hosting their annual service the funeral home has seen people receive aid in the healing process.

“It’s important for people to come together and love and support each other as they find themselves on a similar journey,” he said.

At the luminary event, Davis utilizes photo from funeral services and place them with a candle that the family can take home.

“We all have good days and bad days. Anybody that’s experienced a loss knows it’s a healing time for them, but it also is for us because we get to let them know that we still remember and love them,” Shrock said.

Anyone who wants to is encouraged to attend the service, which will start at 5 p.m. Saturday and lasts roughly 20 minutes.
