The annual “Take a Kid Outdoors Day” returns Saturday, giving area youth a chance to explore and gain skills in numerous activities ranging from intro courses for firearms and archery to ATV safety and identifying animal tracks. The event is free to attend.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Daviess County Gun Club (7740 KY 2830, Maceo, 42355). Lunch is provided.

Participants will have a chance to shoot live firearms — from a BB gun to a 12-gauge shotgun — under direct supervision from adult officers. Children can also learn about ATV safety and identifying animal tracks, reptiles, and more.

Parents and guardians of participants are encouraged to join their children at the event, and lunch will be available to all in attendance.

For questions or to register, contact the Daviess County Conservation District at 270-685-1707 Ext. 3.
