Wesley Woodyard — a former NFL linebacker, University of Kentucky star, and philanthropist — will be the guest speaker at the 39th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner hosted by the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club. This year’s event is dedicated in honor of Jack T. Wells, and the Cliff Hagan will be in attendance.

The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Club’s Mike Horn location at 3415 Buckland Square.

The event, sponsored by Independence Bank, is a major fundraiser for the Club.

“For one special night, this event will help bring together our Club members, uplifting community leaders and an inspiring sports leader, all determined to help build Great Futures,” a release from CEO Steve Winkler reads.

Woodyard was one of the best defensive players and team leaders in UK Wildcat history. He helped lead his team to two consecutive Music City Bowl wins.

After graduation, Woodyard played in the NFL for 12 seasons. His NFL debut began with the Denver Broncos (2008-13) and finished with the Tennessee Titans (2014-19).

Off the field, Woodyard was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a member of the prestigious UK Athletics Society of Character. He was later inducted into the UK Hall of Fame.

He continues his philanthropic pursuits through his 16 Ways Foundation, 16ways.org.

The Steak & Burger Dinner meal will be provided by Longhorn Steakhouse.

Funds raised will be used to provide Academic Success and Healthy Lifestyle programs and activities for the Owensboro location.

Ticket prices are $100 per individual, $375 for one table with four guests, and $700 for two tables with eight guests. To RSVP, contact Kalie Winkler 270-685-4903 or [email protected]
