The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Co. is preparing to host the first Sunflower & Pickle Festival at their store in Sorgho. The festival will be held on Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Cottage Sunflower & Pickle Festival will feature two full days of activities and food centered around pickles. Unique pickle treats will include popsicles, dips, juice, fried pickle chips, popcorn, cotton candy, and a variety of canned pickles.

There will be many games and activities including a Pop ‘n’ Paint class hosted by Just Love to Paint, and a chance to snap some pictures with a pickle character. Breakfast items, lunch, and a full coffee bar will be available as well.

In addition, several sunflower fields are available for free photography opportunities. The Cottage is inviting local photographers to use their field for client sessions. A scavenger hunt will also be held in the field.

Visitors will also be able to pick their own sunflowers to take home. They are $1 per stem.

“Last year, our sunflower field put us on the map,” said Marlene Knight, owner of The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Co. “We had such a great response that we decided to triple the size of our field to last throughout the summer. We are also known for our homemade pickles, so we can’t wait to combine the two for a fun event.”
