Unable to stifle a fiery Butler County offense, Trinity fell at home 84-61 on Monday.
Getting 17 points from the trio of Jagger Henderson (seven), Brody Hunt (five) and Solomon Fleener (five), the Bears got out to an early 19-14 lead following the first quarter.
The Raiders offense came alive in the second quarter, looking to make up some ground going into halftime. They lit it up from deep, connecting for 15 of their 20 points.
However, Butler County hadn’t taken its foot off the gas either, going for 22 points and taking a 41-34 lead into the locker room.
The Bears picked up right where they left off in the third quarter, getting 10 of their 21 points from Lawson Rice and extending their lead to 62-45 heading into the fourth.
Connecting from beyond the arc three more times in the fourth, Trinity tried to claw its way back into the game. But they had no answer for Buter County’s explosive offense, falling to them 84-61.
Rice led all scorers with 21 points, while Henderson (17), Fleener (16) and Hunt (15) all finished in double figures on the night.
Junior Landon Huff led the Raiders with 18 points on the night, while junior Nathan Hernandez followed right behind with 17 points of his own.
The loss moves Trinity to 10-10 overall, as they now turn their attention to a road game with Ohio County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
