The name of Wednesday’s murder victim has been released, and law enforcement believes the man who was injured in the incident is responsible for the shooting.

The victim who died in this homicide has been identified as 49-year-old Shannon Michelle Buchler of Owensboro, according to the Owensboro Police Department. A juvenile female and adult male are still hospitalized with life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds. The names of the man and juvenile have not been released.

According to OPD Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess, detectives believe the man shot Buchler (who Boggess said was a significant other of the suspect), before shooting the juvenile and then himself.

Detectives believe this incident was a domestic disturbance and is not related to any other recent shooting, and that there is also no current threat to the public.

According to a release, at approximately 9:43 p.m. Wednesday OPD responded to the 100 block of E. 25th Street for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a female who had died from a gunshot wound, as well as the other two victims.

Detectives continue to investigate and anyone with additional information can call OPD at 270-687-8888, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
