Sharon Castle announced she is running for Daviess County’s West Commissioner seat in the 2022 election.

Castle said she is running because she believes not much is done on the behalf of the people on the west side of the county.

With her experience owning apartments complexes alongside owning and operating Windy Hollow Campgrounds she said that she’s been able to get a good feel for what needs to be done and what hasn’t been done.

“I think the west side has been kind of neglected because there’s not too much going on the west side of town,” Castle said.

She said this is likely because the west side hasn’t had a large amount of industry and business coming in while the east side is flourishing. She hopes to bring some help to the western district by bringing some things that could draw people toward out west.

She said her experience owning over 100 apartments has given her the ability to learn what’s happening within the community and build connections with citizens right now and plans to use those ties should she be elected.

The main concern that she has heard from several people in the county is that they are not able to get in contact with the current West District Commissioner. She said to help with this she plans to raise the amount of communication should she be elected by placing her cell phone on all platforms.

“If you can’t get good communication with the people you’re trying to help, you’re not going to be able to help anyone. And if you don’t get any return calls, you’re definitely not going to be able to help anyone,” Castle said.
