Apollo volleyball had a rough last day of the regular season, losing back-to-back games against Madisonville-North Hopkins and Meade County.
The E-gals were in an intense battle for the first match of the day, falling just short against Madisonville-North Hopkins (23-25, 35-33, 22-25, 20-25).
Apollo came out of the gates trading points back and forth with Madisonville-North Hopkins, but the Lady Maroons just narrowly won 25-23.
The second set needed extra points to determine a winner, as the E-gals bounced back strongly with a 35-33 win.
With both teams looking to take control of the match with a big win, they went blow for blow with Madisonville-North Hopkins coming out on top 25-22.
Apollo fought to stay alive in the fourth set, but ultimately the Lady Maroons grabbed a 25-20 win and secured the match 3-1.
The E-gals were unable to muster up enough offense in their second match, falling to Meade County 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 16-25,10-25).
Apollo nearly escaped with a win in the opening set, but Meade County took a 1-0 lead with the 26-24 victory.
The E-gals bounced back in the second set to knot things up at 1-1, by grabbing a 25-19 win. Momentum swung the opposite way once again in the third set, as Apollo lost 25-16.
In control of the match, Meade County won the match 3-1 with a 25-10 fourth set win. Senior Havanah John led the way offensively with 36 kills, while senior Aliyah Carwile finished with 20 and senior Maddi Boswell finished with 15.
Sophomore Ahalia Ramirez did a good job of setting the offense up with 69 assists in the two matches.
Senior Abby Spong led the way defensively with 26 digs, while sophomores Kaley and Kelsey Dickinson finished with 17 and 16 digs respectively.
