Owensboro volleyball battled back and forth with Trinity (Whitesville) looking to extend its winning streak to three games, but was unable to as the Lady Raiders grabbed a sweep and extended its winning streak in front of their home crowd (25-16, 26-24, 25-19).
Trinity came into the first set looking to take control of the match and did just that, going up 1-0 with a 25-16 win.
Determined to even things up and steal a road win from the Lady Raiders, Owensboro traded points back and forth with them. However, Trinity ultimately had the dege in the second set and grabbed a 26-24 win.
With their backs against the wall the Lady Devils fought tooth and nail to keep themselves alive by forcing a fourth set, but they fell just short and lost the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
The Lady Raiders had a balanced attack offensively, as sophomore Hannah Nash (9), senior Cassidy Morris (8), freshman Kenzie McDowell (7) and sophomore Georgia Howard (5) combined for 29 kills.
Junior Josie Aull assumed her usual role of setting up the offense, finishing the night with a game-high 30 assists. Meanwhile, junior Abby Payne and senior Taylor Pedley led the way defensively with 22 and 19 digs respectively.
Freshman Addie Travis led Lady Devils in kills with seven, while the trio of freshman Maya Joska (7), junior Mia Covington (6) and freshman Ava Fincher (6) led the way in the assists department.
Sophomore Chase Mather led them defensively, as the only player finishing in double figures for digs with 12.
The Lady Raiders winning streak now sits at 10 games, while owning an overall record of 22-4 on the season. Trinity will look to stay strong as they hit the road to take on Union County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Owensboro falls to 19-13 on the year and will look to bounce back when they take on Muhlenberg County at 7:30 p.m. to close out the regular season.
