Dracin Williams has announced he plans to run for Owensboro City Commissioner in the 2022 election. Williams was a mayoral candidate in the 2019 race.

Williams said he believes Owensboro deserves a leader who has a bold and progressive vision that uplifts the city’s most vulnerable families.

He plans to keep “A New Narrative,” a platform from his previous campaign, which will utilize the creative minds of community members to address local concerns and needs.

“I know it’s difficult to trust in leaders at this moment in history, but I’ve been advocating, listening, and doing the work, and will continue to do so as City Commissioner,” Williams said.

Over the last year, Williams has spent time advocating for and listening to the concerns of vulnerable communities, specifically the low-income and working class. He plans to address housing, education, infrastructure and creating an equitable economy.

He said he has ongoing conversations with the community and a consensus he hears is the current representatives “too often” value the concerns of wealthy business leaders over the working family/person in Owensboro.

“This is the moment to implement bold and visionary ideas to take the city securely into the future for all of us,” Williams said.

Williams is involved throughout the community as a Resident Monitor at a local drug rehabilitation center along with other places. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree in organizational change and leadership from Colorado Technical University.
