Kentucky Wesleyan College announced they will be dedicating their Activity Center in honor of Jack T. Wells, who died in August 2020. The Center sits at 3300 Frederica Street.
Wells graduated from KWC in 1977 and went on to become a dedicated alumus and former Board of Trustees Chair. He was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus in 2011 and inducted into the KWC Alumni Hall of Fame in 2014.
“We could not be more thankful to Jack Wells, whose legacy will live on at Kentucky Wesleyan College in numerous ways,” said KWC President Thomas Mitzel. “Jack’s love of his alma mater and his passion for giving back is again exemplified in this legacy gift.”
Along with the building, KWC is utilizing the Jack T. Wells Charitable Trust to establish the Jack T. Wells Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The Activity Center was previously the former Legacy Owensboro building until January 2020. After a renovation, it was opened for use by KWC in the Fall of 2020. Mitzel said the building has been “invaluable” as there have been a multitude of activities hosted there during the last school year.
The building is used for several events like Campus Ministries Chapel, KWC wrestling practices, the Wesleyan Singers, other group rehearsals, and more.
