Owensboro and Apollo boys soccer fell in its respective matchups on Tuesday, while Daviess County extended its winning streak to three games.
Owensboro vs. Henderson County
Henderson County used a strong second half offensively to defeat the Red Devils on the road 4-1.
Owensboro got on the board first, as freshman Ryan Sovar found Sang Thang who scored to take an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of play.
However, the Colonels responded before the first half came to a close by converting on a free kick in the 29th minute to knot things up at 1-1.
Following the tie, it was all Henderson County as they poured on the offense to nullify the Red Devils second goal in the 61st minute from junior Aiden Frego.
The Colonels scored three goals in the second half, allowing them to walk away with the 5-2 win over Owensboro.
The Red Devils now sit at 7-9-1 overall on the season, as they will look to bounce back when they take on University Heights Academy on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Apollo vs. Greenwood
Apollo boys soccer wasn’t able to overcome early offense from Greenwood, falling on senior night 2-1.
The Eagles found themselves behind for the majority of the first half, as the Gators had found the back of the net twice to take a 2-0 lead.
Apollo answered late in the first half, as Harrison Bowman scored on an assist from Hunter Dickinson to cut it to 2-1.
While the Eagles fought to knot things up in the second half, they were unable to do so and Greenwood walked away with the 2-1 win.
Apollo has lost two straight and now sits at 9-8-1 overall and will look to bounce back when they take on Muhlenberg County at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Daviess County vs. South Warren
Daviess County took advantage of some corner kicks in the second half to defeat South Warren 2-0.
The Panthers were unable to convert on a few opportunities in the first half, but made the most of their chances in the second.
Sophomore Sam Glover sent in a corner into the box in the 52nd minute and bent it well, with South Warren’s keeper unable to keep it out of the net and gave them a 1-0 lead.
Junior Dax Sandifer took advantage of the second corner kick minutes later, finding the back of the net to give Daviess County a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute.
The Panthers held onto this lead by keeping South Warren off the board the remainder of the game, walking away with a 2-0 victory.
Daviess County now sits at 15-1-4 overall on the season with a three-game winning streak under its belt.
