Owensboro had a strong outing against Hopkins County Central, while Apollo and Owensboro Catholic fell short in its respective matchups.

Owensboro vs. Hopkins County Central

The Red Devils offense was clicking on all cylinders against Hopkins County Central, grabbing a 5-0 victory.

Sophomore Sang Thang and junior Aiden Frego were a dynamic duo on Saturday, combining for the five goals.

Thang finished with a hat trick on the day, while Frego scored the other pair of goals.

Sophomore Peter Saang led the way in assists with two, while Frego, senior Saw Thaw and sophomore Samuel Thawng all recorded an additional each.

The win moves Owensboro to 7-8-1 on the season, as they will look to make it two straight when they have their final home game of the season against Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Apollo vs. North Hardin

Some late offense from North Hardin gave them a 4-2 victory over Apollo, snapping its two-game losing streak.

The Eagles managed to knot things up at 1-1 before taking a 2-1 lead later on, thanks to a goal from senior Houston Collins.

However, from that point on it was all North Hardin and their offense.

After tying the game up at 2-2, North Hardin scored with about 10 minutes left to play to take a 3-2 lead.

North Hardin added an insurance goal shortly after, securing a 4-2 win.

Senior Harrison Bowman also scored a goal for Apollo, while junior Steve Teran tried to stifle North Hardin with nine saves.

The loss moved the Eagles to 9-7-1 overall on the season and they will look to bounce back when they host Greenwood at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Frankfort

Owensboro Catholic fell in the All A State Quarterfinal, as Frankfort defeated them 6-2.

Junior Austin Martin and sophomore Brody Martin handled the damage offensively, both scoring a goal each. 

While no one else scored, senior Aaron Self recorded the Aces only assist.

Junior Parker Jones did his best to silence Frankfort’s offense in the net, making eight saves on the day.

However, Frankfort’s offense was overpowering and the loss pushed Owensboro Catholic to 3-8-1 overall on the season.

The Aces will look to snap its two-game losing streak when they host Grayson County at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
