Fiscal Court on Thursday rejected a bid for bullet-resistant vests for the Daviess County Detention Center. There were five bids made but the funding for the program is no longer available.

Jordan Johnson, Assistant County Treasurer, recommended the court reject the bids while DCDC applies for funding.

In other business, officials said a report on the fire tower at Panther Creek Park is expected to come to the Fiscal Court within the next few days for review.

Fiscal Court also heard the first reading for an ordinance authorizing the rebate of .50% of Occupation License Fees due to Daviess County, from new employees of Gryphon Environmental, LLC.

Kevin Smith said in 2017, Gryphon Environmental applied and received preliminary approval to expand operations and at that time they were within city limits. Now they have moved into the county and in order to be fully approved, Fiscal Court must pass the ordinance.

Fiscal Court also approved a FY 2022 Budget Amendment because a community grant had not been budgeted originally. Amending the budget will add a $200,000 revenue item and an expense item of the same amount.

Several people were hired, promoted, and appointed to county positions.

Joshua Vance was hired as a Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator. The court also promoted Brooke Hagan to Administrative Assistant in the Administrative Services Department.

Susan Montalvo-Gesser and Harry Pedigo were reappointed to the Daviess County Library Board for a 4-year term. Harini Cardwell was reappointed to the RiverPark Center Board for a 3-year term.

Demarcus Curry and Dr. Ronsonlyn Clark were appointed to a 3-year term to the Drug Free Owensboro-DC Steering Committee. Laura Chapman was appointed to Owensboro Health Board for a 3-year term.
