Daviess County Fiscal Court officially voted to keep the tax rate the same for the 2021-22 fiscal year during Thursday evening’s meeting.
The real property rate will be 13.4 cents per $100 of assessed value. In addition, revenue received in excess of last year’s revenue will be used for general government administration and protection of parcels of property.
Commissioners also approve multiple resolutions. MPO Coordinator Tom Lovett presented the CDBG Fiscal Year 2020-21 Closeout Documents and proposed a resolution for FY 2021-22.
Lovett said the CDBG funds would total to $200,000 toward the 2021-22 fiscal year.
“In developing grant proposals for the CDBG program, other program areas include public facilities, economic development, housing community projects and emergency relief,” Lovett said.
They also approved the Sheriff Office’s 2020 unmined coal settlement and quietus, Green River District Health Department’s Resolution establishing 2022 tax rates, and a contract with republic services for trash collection of the Daviess County parks.
The court rejected a bid for a new excavator and instead purchased the same from the Kentucky State Master Agreement.
During public comments, resident Zac Ferrell again left asked via the Facebook live stream for an update on the fire tower at Panther Creek.
“Yesterday as far as the fire tower and the engineering firm, they have done their field review, collected the data and to my understanding, they are looking at that information in preparation of the report,” said Mark Brasher, county engineer.
The report should be finalized by the end of September.
Commissioner George Wathen reminded viewers about the Panther Creek Park fireworks show on Sept. 4.
