Mike Endres, crew chief for the boat dubbed Miss Owensboro, has traveled from coast to coast and competed at a national level in Québec (winning six times), and he still believes Owensboro’s downtown waterfront facility is among the best he’s seen in the South.
Endres has been in town for roughly a week now and has been promoting the HydroFair coming this weekend.
“This is a beautiful venue. I mean, I’ve been to a lot of venues, and this is probably one of the top three that I’ve been to,” Endres said.
While he’s been here by himself, Endres said his team has 13 members all arriving today.
Before that take to the water on Saturday, Endres and dozens of other competitors for the HydroFair will be available for the community to meet during a portion of Friday After 5.
FA5 Executive President Fran Marseille said that as Jagoe Homes is a major sponsor of both Friday After 5 and the Hydrofair, she is excited for the partnership and how it will affect the city and the atmosphere.
“[The events will] make an impact for all of our small businesses downtown, and having HydroFair in town puts Owensboro up a notch one more time to show the nation what we’re capable of,” Marseille said.
On Friday, the community can meet the HydroFair drivers and crew at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum backyard from 6:30-7:30 p.m. From 6:30-10 p.m., they can see the Miss Owensboro boat or hop in the “Learn to Drive Me” hydroplane. There will also be an official HydroFair merchandise trailer on site.
