Boys’ golf recaps (Aug. 16): DCHS, OCHS, OHS, AHS

Daviess County boys golf stole the show at Ben Hawes Municipal Golf Course, defeating a number of local schools by individually outsourcing nearly every golfer in the competition.

It was the Panthers, Apollo, Owensboro Catholic, Owensboro and McLean all competed on the day, with Daviess County easily separating themselves from the pack with a score of 158 on the day.

Owensboro Catholic grabbed second with a score of 179, Owensboro grabbed third with a score of 184, Apollo shot 191 and McLean shot 192.

Grant Broughton led the way individually, leading all golfers by three strokes with a total of 37 on the day.

His fellow Panthers Braden Whistle and Gabe Vincent both tied for second place shooting a 40, with the other team’s best individual golfers tying for second with them as well. 

Those include Owensboro’s Will Hume and Will Rickard who both shot a 40 leading to the four-way tie for second.

Daviess County’s Dawson Lamb rounded out its roster, shooting a 41, matching Owensboro Catholic’s JT Payne and McLean’s HB Whitaker—both of which leading their teams on the day respectively. Meanwhile, Apollo’s Trevor Cecil led the Eagles with a 43.
