The Apollo Eagles football program is looking for constant improvement and stronger offensive performances to lead them to success on the gridiron this season.

Offensively, Apollo will be led by mobile quarterback Christian Combs and wide receiver Evan Miller. They’ll be joined by newcomers in running back Donte Dixon and Noah Rhinerson, as well as wide receiver Eli Masterson.

They also have a jack-of-all-trades type of player in Bryley Best who can play wide receiver, running back or cornerback.

Defensively, Apollo returns a trio of key players in linebackers Jarrod Gray, Morgan Eans, Dayton Brown.

The Eagles also have a number of lineman returning in Austin Barnett, Anthony Cart, Kadin Howard, Brayden Dant and Devon Parm.

Head Coach John Edge said his players have grown in the past year and he expects that growth to continue on both sides of the ball.

“I think our wide receivers have grown and understand how to run clean routes now,” Edge said. “We have improved greatly on defense especially after the second game of the season last year.”

Edge said some of the crucial keys to success will be playing fast, along with Combs continually improving, and the defense making big strides.

In order for them to piece things together, Edge said that they just have to take things step by step as the season progresses.

“We have to take one game at a time and we will let the chips fall,” Edge said. “I’m expecting a lot more offensive production and to be better tacklers on defense.”
