The 17-year-old male charged for the homicide of Corban Henry was arraigned Thursday in Daviess County Circuit Court. Jaikorian J. Johnson is facing one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, as well as six other charges.
According to the indictment, other charges include four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, receiving stolen property (firearm), and tampering with physical evidence.
Johnson was transferred from juvenile to adult court on May 26, though his name could not be released until he was arraigned in circuit court.
Daviess County Circuit Clerk said Johnson is still being held in Warren County at this time. Johnson’s next hearing is a pre-trial conference in September.
On Aug. 15, 2020, Owensboro Police Department officers responded to the 1500 block of W. 5th Street at approximately 10:24 p.m. for a firearm discharge. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male juvenile — later identified as 15-year-old Corban Henry — with a single gunshot wound.
At the time of the Johnson’s arrest on May 4, 2021, OPD announced that the charges “were obtained after forensic analysis was completed by the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab and after consultation with both the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and the Daviess County Attorney’s Office. This is the culmination of an almost 8-month investigation in which numerous tips were provided by the community.”
