A solid start from Westin Stutzman and the middle of the lineup propelled the Owensboro RiverDawgs to a 3-2 win over Full Count Rhythm.

Full Count got things going in the top of the second, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to a pair of errors for Owensboro.

Following a scoreless third inning, the RiverDawgs got the response they were looking for in the bottom of the fourth.

Back-to-back singles led to runners on the corners with one out following a steal of third by Kail Hill.

Paul Cuomoulos put Owensboro’s first run on the board with a single to put runners on first and second with one out and things knotted up at 1-1. Cole Gober came through the following at-bat to give the RiverDawgs a 2-1 lead before a double play sent them to the fifth.

Hayden Hirschvogel helped pad Owensboro’s lead in the bottom of the sixth, driving in Bailey Falkenstein with two outs to give them a 3-1 lead.

Stutzman was thriving with the run support from his offense, allowing just three hits and one earned run to go with eight strikeouts over seven and one-third innings on the mound.

The Rhythm were fighting for a comeback in the top of the eighth with the bases loaded and one out. Harrison Travis singled to give them one run, but a strikeout and a lineout quickly ended the major scoring threat.

This allowed Drake Hamil to come in and close the door for the RiverDawgs, giving them a two-game win streak with the 3-2 victory.

Falkenstein, Coumoulos, Gober and Hirschvogel led the way combining for seven of Owensboro’s 10 hits, with the latter all recording an RBI apiece.

Now looking to grab a three-game winning streak, the RiverDawgs will take on the Fulton Railroaders at 6:30 p.m.
