A new weekly program aims to offer a local chef cooking using ingredients from surrounding vendors, along with live music, each Thursday evening at the Owensboro Regional Farmer’s Market.

The Farmers’ Market is partnering with BB&T (now Truist) as they start their “Taste of the Market” evenings.

Tonight’s market will have live music by Mike Hobson starting at 4 p.m. Local chef Cameron Russell will host a cooking demo at 5 p.m. which is done in partnership with Daviess County Diabetes Coalition — Green River Appliances will be providing a Big Green Egg to help with cooking — and there will be wine tasting throughout the evening.

Russell will be cooking Moroccan lamb meatballs with cucumber mint yogurt sauce and cherry tomato skewers with fresh basil pesto — all of which will be available for purchase from the local vendors.

While enjoying the music and watching, guests are able to buy a Regional Farmers’ Market branded wine glass with which to sample.

“It’s all meals that people can make at home, so we’re really hoping that people will come out, enjoy a social atmosphere, especially with what we’ve been through the last year,” said George Bittel, President of the Farmer’s Market.
