An Owensboro man is facing multiple charges including kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and sodomy for incidents with at least two victims within the last few weeks. Shawn Moore, 46, is being charged by both the Owensboro Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

Already lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center after being arrested by OPD last week, Moore was charged by DCSO Tuesday afternoon with kidnapping of an adult and first-degree sodomy.

A report to DCSO on April 15 states that a female victim was walking alone on W. 7th Street around 10 p.m. when a white male pulled up next to her in a red truck and offered to give her a ride home. The suspect was described as having red hair and a red beard.

“The victim stated, once inside the vehicle, the male suspect pointed a gun at her and took her to Panther Creek Park, where he made her engage in sex acts,” according to the report.

Also according to the report, OPD responded to a similar incident on May 5 that had occurred in the Ben Hawes State Park area.

On May 6, OPD arrested Moore for that incident, charging him with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree attempted sodomy and tampering with physical evidence.

“We were aware of the case DCSO was investigating,” said OPD Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess. “Due to some similarities between the two cases, we informed their detectives that he had been charged in our case and that the two were possibly related.”

According to DCSO, “Shawn Moore was also identified as the suspect in an April incident reported to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.”

Moore is currently incarcerated on a $50,000 full cash bond.
