
Virginia Kay Bruner, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior, December 11, 2020 , Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. For the last 5 months she had been a resident of the Fordsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Virginia was born in Daviess County, July 27, 1943, and was raised in Lewisport. She was the youngest daughter of Virgil Long and Martha Elizabeth Berkshire Long.
Virginia was loved by all who knew her due to her caring, kind, soft spoken personality. She always had a smile to share. Virginia had a deep love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She always made time for daily devotion and prayer. Virginia loved caring for others and could never do enough for those closest to her. She was an excellent homemaker, loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and thoughtful loving friend. Virginia was active as an Elder in the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Central Presbyterian church for many years, volunteered in the church in any way she could be of assistance. She graduated from Lewisport Consolidated School 1961, and then attended Kentucky Wesleyan College where she studied business. Virginia was employed by American Olean Tile in Lewisport for 10 years as an accountant, then at Ragu as an accountant manager, and eventually retired from Unilever after serving as a receptionist for 23 years. She will always be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially by her family and closest friends.
Virginia is survived by her son, Scott Alan Bruner and his wife, Cortney, of Las Vegas, NV; her only sister, Mary Lou Kortz, of Winter Park, Florida; and her lifelong friends and neighbors, Faye Wettstain, Mary Margaret Hawkins, and Layman Hawkins, all of Lewisport.
Services are private. Virginia will be buried in Lewisport Cemetery at a later date. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
